English, Inglés, Inglese, 英語, 영어, 英语!!!

What I a class, I had so much fun in this class I learned a lot of new things about myself that I did not know I could. At first I was like another boring English class. However I was wrong, first day of class I thought I had made the right choice by choosing to take this class. The teacher was the best she was funny, nice and very open about her self. All the students they are in the class I knew because they are all summer scholars participants. I think that is why I liked the class more because I did not have to be in a class with college students. I also felt that it was a better experience because we all got to know each other better the way. I know for a fact that I have made a new close friend because I was in the same class as the person. This English class thought me a lot of new things like how to write in different ways, how to look at writings by the way the writer is personality and also how to correct papers in the right and easy way. I could go on and on about this class, but I think I am going to leave it short. All I have to say is that I advice people to take this class in the future it would help you out a lot your senior year. And after all you will learn about your self more. I loved this class and I thank the teacher for taking 5 weeks off her summer to be our teacher. =] I am looking forward to the trip that we are organizing in the month of august.

Talent+

Talent +

I don’t know how to start talking about an amazing day I spent in Lincoln. The first thing I should do is, thank Lina Traslaviña for taking the time to schedule us a wonderful job shadowing day at Talent Plus. I also have to thank Andres Traslaviña, for taking the afternoon off his busy schedule to be with LeAnn, Herbert and I. I couldn’t ask for a better job shadowing, I learned so much about this company that I am thinking about working for them when I graduate from college. That is if I get the opportunity to work there, with wonderful people who love to their job.
I know that I have asked couple of people and I have search in the internet to find out what International Business is really about? But no one can answer the question for me. Actually it was perfectly answered to me on Monday at Talent+. This business has changed my view about what I want to do when I get older. The people who talked to us helped me out a lot. I now understand the job of an International Business person. I learned a lot from the different people I met that day. Andres, we thought me a lot. When I say a lot I mean it. When he had us fill out the six question worksheet that is called Focus on You. At first I was like, this is very simple thing to do but as I got into it I was like well never mind. The six were name? What do I get paid to do? Hot buttons? Best Successes: 1 professional/ 1 Personal? What I do best? Goals 1 professional/ 1 Personal? The question got to me, I did not know what to write down at first but then I was like okay this will be easier if I just put what comes to my mind first and I did. But questions like this get people thinking at different levels. Levels that they might have not known that they existed, but know they do. That is the beauty of this business that they want to get deep into your life before they take the time to hire you. Andres also took to the time to introduce us to very important people in the office. I thought that was fun and interesting getting to know other people that one day they could help you out. I could go on about other thing that Andres talk to us about but I want to also give credit to other people. Chi Cher I thought was a very unique person he is from Singapore and he is the Talent Plus business learning more about himself and how to work better with others and how to help them make there business better. I love his accent I thought that it brought out where he came from. And not a lot of people can do that. He works with hotels in Asia. Julius is also from Singapore and he does sort of the something that Chi Cher does but they are both unique in there own ways. They are both very interesting people to get know and I am sure they would had helped us answered all the question with had about the Talent Plus. Charlotte was a very funny lady I loved how she interact with us. The job that she has a Talent Plus is a very important job to the company and the employees. I have to say that Herbert got the most out of the talk we had with charlotte because he was the one that was more into wanting to be psychologist. That to me sounds like way too much science something that I do not like.
Over all I had a great day at Talent Plus one thing that everyone that talked to us told us to do what we want in life and to make sure that we love the job we are in. Some people hate there job, but the people at Talent Plus love to be there doing what they love to do they all had smiles on there faces. I did not see a person who was like I am ready to get off work and go home. No I did not see that. I thought that was something that you don’t see very often. Thank you Talent Plus for giving me the opportunity to open new doors in my future. I also for got to mention that Talent Plus has an office in Singapore, Asia and they are in the process of opening one in Latin America. I hope they keep growing and making a difference in a lot of people’s minds and also in the businesses.
Thank you once again Lina and Andres to give this great opportunity to see a great place like this.

My life

One of my best achievements was that I learn English in about a year. It was hard at first, not even knowing one word of English. I felt that I was not meant to be in this state because I did not know there native language. That was the best moment of my life, when I could finally speak English. English is not a very easy language to learn, especially when you are already ten years old. I thought that I would never be able to be a fluent speaker, like everyone around me. But I proved myself wrong and I am very proud of that. To have learned to speak another language is very important to me because, if I did not know English I would have not being able to communicate with others and also to keep going in school. Also I would definitely not being able to have close friends. To me to have the privileged of knowing two languages is something very important because one day I can make a difference in the world. Learning English has improved me on my writing skills, speaking and reading. Also I am being able to be involved in programs that are going to help me get scholarships for college. I’m happy that my parents brought me to America. My education is a lot better then it was before and I like that a lot.

The issues that matter to me that most are why the president of Venezuela Hugo Chavez wants to turn Venezuela into another Cuba. I don’t understand why he thinks everything should be equally. To me the world is not equally at all so why should one country be equally. I understand that he wants to help the poor people in Venezuela. For Chavez to take everything away from rich people or medium class who have worked hard, for what they have and own. I do not think that is right to do. It does not matter if he is the President of the Venezuela. I mean he already changed the Flag. What else does he want to do? To me it is different and I am not living the life thousands of people are in Venezuela. I am lucky enough to have moved to the United States. But, what I am trying to get across is that he needs to slow down and quit trying to change our country. He is only doing it because; He wants to be like Cuba and Fidel Castro who runs his country how ever he wants and no one can change that. I disagree with him.

I want to go to the University of Nebraska at Omaha, It is not my dream school but it is close to home. The only reason why I want to go there is because it does not cost that much money to go. Also the requirements are not as high as others school I want to attended. I have the opportunity to know a lot about this college since is so close to my house I always hear everything that is going on the university. I am in the academy of Finance at my school and we are always working with the college of business from UNO. I found out that UNO has one of the best business college in Nebraska. That is something very important to me because that is what I want to go into when I go to college.

My first week.

My first week in the summer scholars program was really fun. I injoy meeting new people and getting to know them. I have made a lot of new friends that i would never thought i would have if i would had not been in this program.
I had a really good time while we were in the Scott Resident Hall. I wish we could have been able to stay there for another week, or the whole five weeks of the program. There were couple of things that was challenging for me, like when we had to the Co-op Team Building. I work better when i am in a group but for some reason i would had rather did everything by my self then with a group. I did not learn that much about my self i just sort of went with the flow. I mean i did learn that there is people that at times need to be pushed to get things done on time. I also had a lot of fun experiences in the program, i really like the class i choose. I was not that happy that i got put in English at first but it ended up been a wonderful class so i am happy with my choice. The people in this picture are the people that i was the closes too in the week that i was at resodent hall. We had so much together, im glad i got the apportunity to meet people like this that one day will change the world. I love all four of them. Im sure when we get older we will still be in touch.
